Vassar—A Summer Location for Filmmakers
and Scholars
Vassar frequently plays host to distinguished film artists.
In the summer the New
York Stage and Film Company makes Vassar its home.
Visiting Filmmakers, Critics and Academics
During the academic year visitors come to show their works,
give lectures, visit classes and meet with faculty and students
in informal settings. The Katherine Stone White Artist in Residence Fund allows The Vassar Film Department to host an Artist for
several days working with students in classes and one on one. In 2007 we were visited by Dan Gold and in 2008 we hosted Kasi Lemmons
as our Artist in Residence.
Vassar invites filmmakers who specialize
in all areas of film production—from Hollywood insiders
to the latest experimental video artists, from local filmmakers
to international celebrities. These visitors generate a
great deal of excitement on campus, but more importantly
they enrich our curriculum and inspire our students. Here
is a partial list of guests who have visited in recent years.
